Annotation
"The cross as a gift was provided by Balashev's descendants to the Museum in 1812. As it turned out, Easter fell on April 2, 1811, and, perhaps, Alexander I, being in a festive mood, thus thanked the St. Petersburg governor A.D. Balashev for finishing work on the granite framing of the banks of the Moika." Levin S.S., Russian Imperial Orders of Chivalry. From the Collection of the State History Museum. Moscow, 2003.
